Yamir was born and raised in Arecibo, Puerto Rico, and moved to the United States to attend New College of Florida, where he earned a dual Bachelor's degree in Anthropology and Caribbean & Latin American Studies. While at New College, Yamir took an interest in the Puerto Rican migrant populations in Florida and completed an honors thesis on the topic.
Before moving to Massachusetts, Yamir worked as an Education Initiatives Coordinator at UnidosNow in Sarasota, Florida, where he supported first-generation Latine students by providing college and career readiness workshops and programs. Yamir is passionate about empowering students and their families to discover their post-secondary goals.
In his spare time, Yamir enjoys hiking with his dog, trying new coffee shops, sharpening his Tetris skills, and discovering new music. Yamir is fluent in English and Spanish.
